Echando Fuego

This week I am lazy so I am just going to attach parts of an email I sent to my mom this week…

“…Its amazing how much can change in just one week! Wow, last week I was complaining about my companionship and how we were achieving much success. Well. Something really good happened at the beginning of this week. We have a member in our ward whos really cool. His name is Paco, he is about Dad´s age. Well, he saw we were having problems in our companionship and he talked to us. He gave is the most beautiful lesson on companionships. He spoke about his marriage. He told us the trick is to not focus on the bad stuff so much because if you start making a list of all the bad stuff about your partner, ha, you´ll never finish the list. But rather focus on the good things. For example his wife is really dominating, every independent. But he went on to explain that at the same time hes seen her cry. Not much but hes seen it. He knows that behind that lioness there really is a sheep thats hidding. Like everything he told us helped a lot.

So my companion and I started resolving our concerns, making compromises and what happened? We gave 26 lessons this week! Could you believe?? Its like a complete turn around. Only 2 of those were to members. 5 were first lessons! Everyone in the zone freaked out when they heared we had achieved so many lesson, they kept asking us how we had achieved it and honestly, I don´t know. The only thing we did differently was resolve our problems in our companionship but the way we are contacting and everything is the same. Only now people are letting us in their doors.

Man, I wish we had the weather you were describing in your letter. Here it is burning! This is the hottest time of the whole year. But this week we get to go to Xela! We are going to be there all day with Elder Richard G. Scott! I am so excited! And in Xela its freezing. There is 10 zones in the area and they are split exactly in half. 5 are on the coast and 5 are in the mountains where its cold. It goes like this. Tierra Fría: San Marcos, Huehuetenango, Quetzaltenango, El Bosque, Momostenango. La Costa: Malacatan, Coatepeque, Retalhuleu, San Felipe, Mazatenango. Those are all the areas in the mission. One thing I learned thats interesting is the ending tenango means parte alto o sea parte frío. I want to go to tierra fría!

I dont have tooons of time but Ill tell you about one family that we met today. Wow, this guy is name Miguel Angel and we found them contacting. From the door I could tell the guy was really receptive to the message. That night we left him with a pamphlet and took off. When we returned the next day he was sitting in his chair with his wife waiting for us with the pamphlet in his hand and a pen ready to take notes. I said to myself, no way this is happening. It was the first time I had ever seen somebody actually prepared to receive us haha. When we asked him if he had read he said, Yes. When we asked him what he understood from the chapter (3 Nephi 11) he went on to explain it even better than I could! Ha! I was in shock. The family is so united and so awesome! I dont even have the words to describe how cool it was solo sé que nosotros vamos a echarlos en el agua…”

HAVE A GOOD WEEK.
