Alright! So… this week was good. We found two families! And they are very positive! One is the Family Garcia. They have 3 boys and 1 girl. We had a really good first lesson the father of the family had a lot of questions. He asked us, How could you possibly know which of all the churches is true? There are just too many. My companion and I just looked at eachother like, jackpot! And then we explained to him how Joseph Smith had the same problem. He wanted to know which of all the churches were true because there are sooo many. Especially here in Guatemala. Wow, seriously, here in Guatemala there are more churches then stores. The churches are like business because they make so much money off of tithing and things like that. Anybody who wants to make a church can do it. One time I say a guy with just a little hut. All he had was two palm tree leaves and a photo of christ and that was his church. It can be very confusing for these poor people here. Especially in the area where he lives there is about 15 different churches. So we explained to him how Joseph Smith recieved his answer and how he and his family could do the same. They can recieve an answer through the Holy Ghost through a prayer. At the end of the lessons he promised he and his family would pray and then we invited him to pray. He told us he didnt know how so we taught him. After he understood the prayer he looked at us and said, Alright… lets pray then. And he just bowed his head and began to pray. It was awesome!
The other family is the family Perez. They have 2 boys and 5 girls. Thats a big family here in guatemala! When we first met them we asked how many kids they had. The mother said, only 7. We shouted back, only 7! And she laughed. This family was really interested in the message and really loved hearing about the book of mormon and how Christ came here to America. They were really fasinated with the photo of Christ here in America as well. The mother cant read and so together we read 3 Nephi Chapter 11 which tells of Christ coming here to America and they loved it! They all promised to pray to know if its all true as well.
With Magda, she unfortunetly didnt go to church this last week. So she still has only attended 1 time. People cant be baptised unless they have 2 or more. But yeh, we went to her house and this last week and she had a lot of questions about the sacrament and the things she had seen in the church. We explained to her the importance of the sacrament and how important it is that she gets baptised. She understood everything. Shes never been baptised in a church so she wants to do it. This week we are going to put a baptismal date with her.
So yeh, thats a quick update on whats going on. Things are going very well. I´m loving everything! And now instead of writing more Im going to post a few new photos. You can check them out in my photo gallery under 2006-02 (Reu).
