Alright, today I am going to try and answer a lot of questions I have recieved recieved. Here we go…
Q. Can you see the beach? Is it close to your house?
A. No, I can not see the beach. It is really close to my area though. Its about 20 minutes away from my area by car. The beach is actually an area in our mission called Champerico. The reason why we cant see it is because of all the trees. Ive been there though once before and Its really awesome! Too bad we cant swim.
Q. Have people ever thrown stuff at you?
A. Yes. We had some people throw some rocks one time. They were not big rocks and they didnt hit us either. We just turned around looked at them and said, Cuidado. Which means translated is like be careful. They looked scared when they realized we some what reacted and they then just left us alone.
Q. Are they still in winter time over there when it rains every day?
A. No. Supposedly the rain starts in like may and then goes until november. During this time it supposedly rains every single day. During mid day and again at night. Its only rained like maybe 10 times at the most in all the time Ive been here so far.
Q. Does it rain like that in your area?
A. Yes! When it does rain it rains HARD. The streets fill up like little rivers. And because my area is right by the beach is comes down hard. So when the rain season starts up in may we are going to get it good.
Q. Are your shoes holding up?
A. Yes. My shoes are fine. Every once in a while when Im too lazy to clean them I just flag down one of the many kids that run the streets shinning shoes.
Q. Tell us about the building you meet at, is it a chapel or a house of prayer?
A. We have a chapel. Its small but really nice.
Q. Are there stake centers in your city?
A. Yes, two of them actually. We are really blessed in this city to have them.
Q. Is your ward big or a little branch?
A. Well, if you look at our records our ward is huge but there are a lot of inactive members. We have a good number that do show up for church though. Nothing even close compairable to the wards in the states. Probably about 50 or more people come to church each sunday.
Q. Where do you perform the baptisms?
A. At our chapel. Even though the churches are small they all have their own font to perform baptisms.
Q. How are your investigators? Do you have any right now??
A. Things are going well. Honestly things were really tough for a while we didn´t have hardly any investigators and contacting was just not going well. Just in this past week though things have been a lot better. The bishop in this ward had enough confidence in us to give us the records of his ward. And these sheets of paper have all the names of the members and of the family member members and it lists if they are members or non members. So we have been visiting some of the partial member families on that list.
If I had to choose I would have to say right now my favorite investigator is a lady named Magda (shes in her 40´s). Her mom is a member but shes really old and she hadnt been to church in years because of her health. We found them contacting. Magda isnt a member of any church and has never been baptizedWe have already taught her pretty much all the lessons. In one experience we had we went to their house and her mom, her name is Amanda was feeling really sick. So we decided to teach about the priesthood and the power that it has. We explained to them that with it we can give blessings to the sick but we cant just go around offering blessing. They need to have the faith to ask for a blessing and then we gladly will do it. When they heard this the mom Amanda said really quickly, I would like a blessing because I know that God can make me better. So we did it. It was such a powerful experience. At the end of the blessing Magda was crying. She really felt the spirit. This last week they both ended up going to church and they loved it. For Magda it was her very first time. She had a lot of questions, mostly about the sacrament. This week we are going to visit her and explain the importance of the sacrament and baptism and try and put a baptisimal date for her. If I had to choose a favorite she would have to be it right now.
We also had a really neat experience this week. There is an place in our area called La Guitarra. We had never visited that area because its a little bit far away but we felt like we should go and check it out. We went contacting. We knocked a door and bam, the guy let us in. His name is Juan. We taught him the first lesson and he absolutely loved it. We went to the very next house, knocked and bam, they let us in also. It was a lady named Maria. Shes catholic but doesnt like a lot of things about her church so we taught her the first lesson also, really positive. Then we went to the next door, and wow, they let us in also! A family! The father was named Alvaro Perez. The whole family loved the first lesson as well, had a few questions but we worked it all out. After that house we ran out of time and had to head back home but WOW. We knocked 3 doors and gave 3 first lessons. That pretty much never happens. My companion was like, no way, the people here are just starving to hear the gospel.
So yeh, things are going very well. Tomorrow they are going to let us know if we have a change because wednesday is change day. So next week it is possible that I could be writing from a new area in the mission. We will just have to see what happens. I love you guys so much!!! Next week Ill post some new photos and a video as well. Take care!!

What a nice weekly journal entry!. I loved it when you said : “change” (”transfer”). You are already thinking as a native. How cool is that? :O)I can’t wait to hear what your new area would be. I LOVEEEEE YA :O)

Enjoyed your entry this week. Don’t despair, your changes sometimes come when you least expect them. The longest time I spent in any area was 7 months in Zacapa; the shortest before I was called to be a traveling elder was one month the first time I was assigned to Patzicia. As a traveling elder,I would normally spend no more than three or four days in any given place. Que sera, sera. Hang in there!
