Charish Your Milk

Hows it going everyone!!?? I don´t have a lot of time so I am going to post just a quick update. Everything here is going great. Last saturday the 21st we had another baptism. We baptised a lady named Julia Arango. She has a daughter who is a new member, and they are the only members of the church in their family. I am so excited for her because now the daughter (Linda) has her mom to help support her in the church and Julia can recieve the same support from her daughter.

Things are going good. This week has been a little tough. We don´t have a lot of investigators in our pool of names because we have had to leave a lot of them. This week we tried a lot of contacting and hardly nobody wants to open their doors. In all the hours and hours we spent knocking doors only one let us enter, others we got to put appointments. The problem with those is when we return its like 25% of the time they let us in. We are looking into other means currently to find new investigators. Digging through the area book of past investigators, etc.

This week we had another Zone Conference and it was a lot of fun. I spoke with one of the missionaries there that I entered the mission with and the first thing he said was, wow you are losing a lot of weight. It was sweet! I never even noticed. So I ran and put myself upon a scale and sure enough I have lost 12 pounds, crazy! The blessings of serving the Lord! Ha.

Last week we got to go to a place called Abaj Takalik. Its this place that has old mayan ruins. It was soooo cool. Its apparently the place that has the oldest mayan ruins in all of Guatemala. I also got to see a bunch of animals there and I played with a monkey. It was a lot of fun and I am trying to post pictures right now of it but the computer is being funny if it doesn´t work I will do it next week.

The last thing I want to say is random but charish your milk. One thing I have noticed being here in Guatemala is all the things that I took for granted. Milk is one of those things. Here you can have powdered milk, milk that tastes funny, or pig milk which apparently destorys brain cells. Milk is one of those things that I can say I truly miss. A big bowl of cold cereal. Charish your milk because not everyone is so fortunate! Love you guys!!

Pretty Mom says:
I didnt know that lack of milk is good for loosing weight :O)

Aunt Cecile says:
Wow, I can’t imagine not noticing losing weight! Guys are so blessed that way…not worrying so much about it. I thought about sending you some Milk Lite (a whey-based powdered milk which isn’t quite as nasty) but I think it might not make it there as it could be mistaken for drugs. I’ve been enjoying your postings each week. Take care!

Aunt Forbyn says:
AHahaha. Pig milk destroys brain cells. I read that out loud to Elder Rawlins, and the guys here at teh refugee internet place overheard and laughed. Joy.
