Kings To You

whats up!! things are going great here in reu! ive decided that missionary work is a lot like playing chess. you have to strategically do everything slowly taking out there pieces or doubts until you get them in check mate, or baptism. its a lot of fun.

for example, we are teaching this one lady and we thought it was going well but the last time we went to visit here we saw here in here house hiding, so we called in, hermana we can see you, you dont need to hide. so she came out and we spoke and she invited us in. after singing, prayer, we started talking. hermana, whats wrong, obviously there is a problem because you were hiding. well it turns out she has been visiting the catholic church and she is in the process of getting her kids baptised. well, her kids are just that, kids. my companion turned to one of her little kids and asked him, whats a sin? of course the kid didnt know, then he asked would you rather have 4 quetzales (the type of money here) or some icecream… the kid shouted back, icecream! he then turned to the lady and together we both just testified to her and explained to her why here kids did not need to be baptised and that her kids are perfect. it was pretty powerful, not to mention a lot of fun. thats what we like to call giving them the machette. it looked like she got the point. we will see when we return how things continue.

speaking of children. this one time this week we had a funny experience. we were contacting and family let us inside there house, so before we started we gave a brief overview of what we were going to teach after the song and prayer… that god is our father, and we are his children. and there was this guy who was in the same room who was obviously really drunk and shouted. you are son of god!? as in a question and we said, yes and so are you… and he got pretty mad and left the room. so then we continued with the song and we sang i am a child of god and my companion emphasied the word child everytime and you can hear the guy grumbling in the other room. it was pretty good.

we have a couple investigators right now who are really progressing, we have 6 that are progressing and 2 that we are trying to get to commit to baptism at the end of this month. one is named telma and the other is lorenzo. different investigators they have no relation to eachother. telma says shes going to get baptised but has a problem with attending church and lorenzo will get baptised we just need to set the date. its pretty exciting.

everyone here is really nice, for reals. i mean yes we run into people that are real jerks but for the most part everyone is really receptive. everytime we make a contact the people will at first explain they are either catholic or evangelic and we explain, dont worry we are not here to take you out of your church (which is half true) we are only here because we have a message very important for you and your family. then we usually ask do you believe in god… yes. do you believe in christ… yes. exellent hermano/hermana so do we! and the message is about then and i know that if you listen to it you will grow in understanding and it will bless the lives of you and your family… then they usually say something like everything that is of god is welcomed in my home and then they either let us pass or we make an apointment.

every sunday is crazy here because we have to try and round up all our investigators to bring them to church so we are always running around like crazy. this last sunday we went to an investigators house and when they opened the door their dog escaped and chased after some other dog. uh it was so annoying so we felt bad and had to run around the city looking for the dog. i finally found it and grabbed it and carried it (and its huge) 6 blocks back home because it didnt have a leash or caller. everyone on the street was looking at us funny like what the heck are these chambones doing but once we finally get into the church its always so rewarding. i love it!! its sooo cool. no matter where you are in the world, the church is the same. the people are different but the church and the spirit you feel is all the same. whenever i go to the church its like being at home.

we are having tons of activities around here because its christmas. we had a stake activity where we reinacted the birth of christ. the members made me be one of the angels. i dressed up in the only white stuff i have all my baptismal clothes because i dont have sheets that are white so they were joking a lot calling me the baptisimal angel and said after the show we should just have people line up at the font. it was great, a lot of fun. our district here is also preparing a lot of songs and we are going to go around like a mariachi band with guitars and sing christmas songs to all our investigators its going to be pilas!!

a couple other small things, we have a guy in our ward name paco. he is sooo cool. he is an amazing artist. he reminds me of andrew yeager only a lot older and a lot more latin. we have been helping him because he is making these really cool stuff for this christmas presentation we are going to have. its hard to explain and i dont have a lot of time so ill just take pictures and post them soon, just now its awesome and a lot of fun.

another thing is there are a lot of drunks here. its funny. you see them collapsed sleeping on the cement all the time. theres this one guy who i swear lives on our corner we see him day and night irregardless of time just sitting on our corner drunk. he knows us now and is always saluting us. its sooo funny. we always just walk by him and say to eachother, everytime… because hes always there.

this morning i got to bless a baby who was ill. it was a really neat experience. my first blessing, it was great. the work here is awesome and i am having a lot of fun! i hope all of you are doing great! i love you all and until i write again….

p.s. i added pictures in the photo section of my site of my experience in the mtc but i didnt get to post all of them so ill post the second half next week and maybe some pictures from here… ill get around to it. take care.

Life on the mission is incredibly entertaining de hecho, entonces, ojala que te aproveches de esta oportunidad de servir nuestro Señor por dos años de nuestras vidas.
