Holeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee crap today has been the best day of my LIFE! Not only did I go through the temple for the first time today which was pretty much the cooooolest thing ever but I met GARY COLEMAN! THE GARY COLEMAN! It was the weirdest thing.
I was at Super Cuts getting my missionary haircut and I saw him through the mirror walking in the door. The second I saw him I thought to myself, “Holy crap, that little black guy looks like Gary Coleman.” The lady cutting my hair then stops, turns and says, “Hey Gary”. Instantly I then think to myself, “Wow, thats is too much of a coincidence”, then he opened his mouth and started talking. The second I heard his voice my mind exploded with my thoughts screaming, “Holeee crap thats Gary Coleman!!” It was beyond cool.

The lady talked to him a little bit and then he went to sit down. While he was off to the side she comes back to me and says, “Do you know who that was?” I looked at her and said, “Who doesn’t know who that was?” haha wow! Gary Coleman! She told me he has been in the place three other times and the first time he came in she had absolutely no idea who he was, she thought he was just some little guy that needed a bench. It was only until after he left and her co-workers freaked out when she realized she had to go home to do her homework.
She also told me some other funny stories. Apparently the first time he went in there he only tipped her a dollar, which at first she didn’t really care but after she found out who he was she was kind of upset then the second time he came in he used his card and it got declined hahaha but he had already left so it was too late to tell him about it. Gary Coleman!! Wow!
When I was leaving I was sooo scared to talk to him so all I said to him was “Dude, I love the stuff you do” and he just said, “Thanks man!” then I just told him to have a good day and I left. I wasn’t actually scared but I was just thinking to myself, man if I was famous and strangers bugged me every second of the day it would irritate me so I’m just not going to irritate him, but at the same time I have to say something to him so I know that Gary Coleman spoke to me and acknowledged me as a human being.
Apparently he lives in Santaquin, why he was in Orem and why he chooses Super Cuts of all places to get his haircuts from beats me. Maybe its because of the lack of people, I would imagine if he went across the street to the mall a thousand people wouuld just point at him and say, “Holy crap! You’re Gary Coleman” and its better to have like 5 people to do that than a thousand. Geez the whole time I was starring at him I was thinking to myself, “Gary Coleman. Just yesterday I was watching him getting in a fight on the Surreal Life with Vanilla Ice. Ugh, thats so cool.”
Anyways it was pretty much the coolest thing ever, well, besides the temple of course. All I can say about the temple is anyone who hasn’t gone needs to be pointed in that direction because its the greatest thing you can do. If I had to describe my feelings and what I thought of it in one word I think the best word would be, “New”. Thats what it was, it was just… new. So wonderfully, beautifully new. Obviously I didn’t understand a lot of what happened and I’m sure it’ll take my whole lifetime just to put the pieces together but you know what, I’m up for the challenge. I loved it.
In other news, I bought pretty much all that was missing for the mission today and I only have 8 days left to live. Wow, time is flying. Tick, tock, tick, tock…
