Olympics = Yet Another Reason to Stop Watching TV

Is it just me or have the Olympics lost their appeal? Man, I used to love watching the Olympics but the last couple of times its come up I just didn’t care for it at all. Maybe its just me. I’m really hoping that’s the case, or maybe its losing its magic.

The Olympics are the most over-hyped thing on planet since Y2K. But unlike the excitement of experiencing that crazy cool once in a life-time computer glitch that we all thought was going to bring on Armageddon, the Olympics keeps coming back. It’s like an international, really well-financed version of herpes. No matter how hard you try to get rid of it, it painfully just keeps coming back.

Maybe one reason why I don’t care so much for the Olympics anymore is some athletes have ruined it for me. The Olympics used to be about competing for the love of the sport and showing off pride for ones country. Today, I feel its just tainted by so much political issues, product placement, and illegal drug use it hurts me.

I used to watch the Olympics with so much respect for the athletes and I used to really look up to them. But now because of all the steroid use I can’t just watch the Olympics anymore and enjoy it because I have that always in the back of my head, “They’re probably all super human because they use steroids”. The sad part is, a lot of them do and unless they come out, we’ll never really know for sure. So you just have to live with that, wondering, did they really win those medals on their own, or did enhancement drugs help them? It always only takes a few to ruin it for everyone.

I don’t hate the Olympics, in fact I used to love it. Its just disappointed me in recent years. I don’t know, like I said, maybe I’m just in one of those phases right now or maybe the Olympics are just getting worse. I hope its not the latter.

will SAYS:

Oh ya?! Well Michael PHELPS is the only good thing I’ve heard come of these Olympics, in fact, hes the only thing I’ve heard even worth mentioning. Everything else is like I said, pretty lack luster and boring.

sashita [little sister] SAYS:

hahahaha. i came here to fix my mistake and you beat me to it. suckaaaaa-pooo. and just FYI, the olympics is never boring! have you seen the weighlifters? one guy got pissed off that he won a bronze medal and when he was being awarded, he took the medal and threw it on the ground! now that is entertainment! ha.

will SAYS:

thats true, and did you see the hungarian weight lifter who turned his elbow clear the freak around? that was pretty cool.

hungarian wrestler gets owned

if you haven’t, check this shiz out

Kira SAYS:

Dude- that elbow is SICK. Will, buddy, I think you’re wrong about the Olympics. Yes, you have to sift through to find what inspires you. But if the women’s sand volleyball isn’t inspiring, motivating and fun- I don’t know what is. Of course, now that that event is over, I don’t tune in anymore
